Conveyor Networks achieves SAFEContractor status

Cheshire based factory and logistics automation company Conveyor Networks has achieved SAFEcontractor status which recognises the company’s high standards of health and safety practices. The accreditation involves businesses undergoing a rigorous assessment process to review and audit their health and safety procedures, quality processes and environmental management, as well as examining their track record for safe practice on and off site. Contractors who achieve the status are included on a database which allows potential and existing clients to vet them and ensure their procedures are of the highest quality.

David Carroll, Managing Director of Conveyor Networks said, “It is a real achievement for us to gain SAFEcontractor status. Often only large organisations achieve it but as a small company it is testament to the focus we have on ensuring we have rigorous and effective health and safety procedures in place.  The nature of our work, designing and installing complex automated conveyor systems which help to make our clients more efficient, means health and safety as well as quality has to be heart of all we do. We hope that the accreditation means our current as well as future clients will be reassured that they are in safe hands.”

Conveyor Networks completes HMV automation project

Factory and logistics automation experts Conveyor Networks have completed a project to design and install an automated conveyor system for HMV at their warehousing operation in Birmingham. The company has also been awarded a 12-month support contract for the maintenance of HMV’s Internet fulfilment centre.

The Lymm based company were tasked with designing an automated solution to enable the picking and packing process to become more efficient through the effective transportation of cartons and pallets. The solution needed to re-use parts of an existing system and integrate them with a new conveyor system. Most importantly though, the system needed to be installed without interrupting the warehousing operation which works 24/7 replenishing HMV’s high street shops with Games and Technology product.

Fraser Paget, Supply Chain Project Manager for HMV said, “The system that Conveyor Networks have designed and installed for us has made our replenishment and picking processes more efficient and ultimately has increased our productivity. This intelligent automated system has enabled us to respond more effectively, especially during peak periods”.

“We’re also pleased to be able to work with Conveyor Networks to maintain our conveyors at our Internet fulfilment centre. The support and service levels they provide give us peace of mind that our systems are able to operate as effectively as possible, particularly important as we reach our busiest period.”

Managing Director of Conveyor Networks, David Carroll said, “We are delighted to have completed this project for HMV and be awarded an additional 12 month support contract for their Guernsey operation. The Birmingham project presented us with a number of significant challenges, the main one being the need to re-use parts of machinery from existing systems and integrate them with new systems in a different warehouse. We worked closely with our partners Transnorm to find the most appropriate solution and our team of experienced engineers ensured the installation of the system did not interrupt the day to day running of the HMV warehousing operation. We are extremely pleased with the end result as the new automated system now transports cartons through the picking and packing process in a much more efficient manner.”
